Our Story

I’ve worn many hats through the years — travel agent for 25 years, substitute teacher, classroom aide, and even a Zumba instructor. When all of those jobs came to a screeching halt in 2020, I found myself sending random gifts to friends and family just to lift their spirits and remind them they weren’t alone. After some deep conversations with My Tribe and My God, Daymaker Gifts was born.

My mother was the original Daymaker. She always had a knack for finding creative ways to make people feel special. Growing up, I’d often find a small surprise waiting on my dresser after school — a new pair of jelly shoes, the latest issue of Tiger Beat, or a totally rad pair of slouch socks (it was the 80’s, after all). These little gifts weren’t elaborate and they weren’t tied to a special occasion. They were just because. And every single time, they made my day.

That same spirit is what fuels Daymaker Gifts. I believe in the power of thoughtful, everyday generosity — in celebrating someone on a random Tuesday simply to remind them they’re loved. Life isn’t always the party we hoped for, but small acts of kindness can make it brighter.

What began online has now grown into a storefront in the small farm town where I was born and raised — LaSalle, Colorado. In the summer of 2024, I opened our doors and expanded Daymaker into a space where we could create custom gifts, bring in consignors, and host community events like our seasonal Open Air Markets and My Sister’s Closet dress drive. Our Make Their Day Wall also lives here — a place where neighbors can take or leave notes of encouragement, gift cards, and simple blessings to keep generosity flowing.

Daymaker Gifts continues to partner with small businesses, cottage crafters, and women- and minority-owned companies to fill each box with meaningful treasures. And because generosity is at the heart of all we do, a portion of our proceeds supports local organizations and community foundations we call our “Difference Makers.

If you don’t see me in the shop, I’m likely enjoying our new empty nest with my best friend and husband of 28 years, visiting our daughters in Denver or Montana, helping with our small herd of cattle on my dad’s ranch, or off on a new adventure somewhere around the globe. I also still spend time substitute teaching because I simply love the kids. My story — and Daymaker’s story — is deeply rooted in family, community, and a simple belief: generosity should be contagious, and it should also be easy to do.

We can't wait to help you make someone's day!
