Every year Santa's sleigh is packed full of toys and trinkets for children all over the world. They bring so much joy with every special delivery, however, there is a special magic in the moments we get to spend together throughout the season.
Whether it's cozy night in with friends, a family outing to see Christmas light displays around town, or an unexpected adventure, shared experiences create memories that last way beyond the holiday season.
As the elves get older and create their own families, my time with them is limited, so giving and receiving experience gifts are the most meaningful for me.
My friends at Daymaker Gifts have a handful of Experience Gifts this year. Their ever popular 'Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt' is packed with everything your family needs for a fun night exploring your neighborhood as a family (it also makes a fun date-night gift). My personal favorite is their 'Holiday Game Night' gift box. This gift is filled to the brim with family fun games that liven up any cocktail hour, or family dinner. BUT this gift is flying off the shelves this year and they only have a few left. These gifts are great to give the whole family or buy for yours and they give the gift of time, which is the best of all.
Experience gifts, big or small, are always a hit!
- Concert tickets
- Painting, art, or pottery classes
- Theatre or sporting event tickets
- A picnic basket full of everything you need for a day in the mountains or beach
- Lift tickets, a round of golf, or a fun weekend getaway
- Movie night
- Fun girls night in complete with popcorn, favorite beverages, and classic RomCom movies
- Spa day together
- Museum, Zoo, or Aquarium passes
At the end of the day, it’s not about the type of experience or the size of the gesture—it’s about the time spent together and the memories you create. Whether it’s a grand adventure or a quiet moment shared, the gift of an experience is truly one that keeps on giving.
Have you ever received an experience gift? I’d love to hear about it! Hit ‘reply’ and tell me your story—your favorite moments, what made it special, or how it brought you closer to someone you love. Who knows, it might just inspire someone else to give the gift of time this holiday season!
Generosity Challenge for the week:
- Plan and simple outing for someone you love, like a movie or coffee date.
- Gift tickets to a local event.
- Write a personal invitation to an experience, such as baking cookies together, a museum visit, or attending a holiday market.
